Generally speaking, my main point about the relationship with nature is that human and nature together form an organic whole. In this organism, the existence of this two complement each other. Nature has given mankind a living environment and generously gifted countless natural resources. At the same time, while human beings enjoy the gifts of nature, it also means that they must protect nature, so as to create a virtuous circle and finally achieve a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship. Therefore, both are indispensable and interdependent part of this organic whole.
Specifically, in the past few hundred years, human beings have continuously benefited from nature. This kind of benefit may be innumerable in a short time, but we must remember that this is not endless. Sooner or later, the treasures of nature will be excavated. Therefore, at the moment we choose to profit from nature, it also means that we have assumed the responsibility of protecting nature. We are not only for ourselves at this moment, to ensure the safety and stability of our living environment, but also for our future generations, so that they can also enjoy the gifts of nature as we do.
My own interpretation of “ecosystem” is that I think it can show the bond between humans and nature, whether this bond is stable or fragile now. In fact, we can all know from the performance of the current ecosystem.
In the industrial age or earlier, people did not realize the existence of the ecosystem, let alone its importance. Therefore, we have caused serious damage to the ecosystem in the past, and the main reason can be attributed to the single pursuit of economic benefits. Excessive felling of trees, air and water pollution, and other kinds of ecological destruction are like shadows that hang on everyone’s heart. Therefore, in recent years, after we have realized the importance of maintaining ecological balance, we have turned to the pursuit of ecological economy, the establishment of ecological civilization, and the restoration of the ecological system. Our ultimate goal is to be able to create an environment-friendly developed society.
In summary, for how I will live with the ecosystem in the future, my key word is “in harmony”. We must balance the relationship between natural ecosystems and social economy, and continue to develop ecological industries. As mentioned in the previous lectures, the development of local characteristic agriculture and the support of local products, thereby boosting local economic development, are all positive and healthy ecological industries. I hope that in the future, we can finally achieve a coordinated development and harmonious coexistence between human and nature, and achieve sustainable development.
In our daily life, we often get used to only use our eyes to feel the existence of nature, because that seems to be the simplest and easiest way for us.
But in fact, all of our five senses can be used as a way to get close to nature. The range of our eyes is actually limited. Only through smell, touch and hearing can we obtain more overall information about the ecological environment in which we live.
Meanwhile, what I want to say is that there are countless kinds of ecosystems on the earth, and perhaps five hundred meters apart, they have already made a difference. Therefore, when facing the natural environment and ecosystems, we should always maintain a spirit of awe and keep exploring.
